Kensington cat
Came across this lovely sculpture mounted atop a pole on Spadina - and it struck me as being just about as Toronto as a sculpture could be - not only was this area (and indeed most of downtown TO) full of wacky cats in the old days - but pretty much everyone I know over forty had that exact kind of chair in their house when they were kids.
The artists are David Hlynsky and Shirley Yanover, and this is just one of a whole series of funky and whimsical sculptures they installed around the edge of Kensington market. (Roughly a block from Switzer's - for grey-haired navigators)
All of the pieces are nifty in their own way - but for me, this one shines out - absolutely T.O. domestic-perfecto!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
