For anyone who thinks I was exaggerating when I say Iran outright won the war (only days into it), here is the outstanding Kitt Klarenburg (the other, even more essential double K journalist) with a clear concise take on the matter from the (demented) wheelhouses of the aggressors.
For those who still have a hard time understanding my point about how the state makes use of both tribal furies to attack rights and citizens, here’s some terrifying proof from the (IMHO essential) reporting of Ken Klippenstein
“...The new Strategy also leans heavily on grievances about the “weaponization” of counterterrorism powers under prior administrations to justify a sweeping expansion of those same powers. It cites past FBI controversies — surveillance of “conservative Catholics attending traditional mass in Virginia,” “parents standing up for their children at school board meetings,” and investigations of “Members of Congress, or President Trump and his associates” — as the rationale for what it calls a previous “radical shift” in U.S. counterterrorism.
In other words: abuses of counterterrorism authorities against the right have now become the grounds for unleashing those same authorities against the left.”
As so often, Caitlin Johnstone here completely nails one of the key distinctions I keep trying to make. Feelings are for psychotic brats, hard realities are for the responsible caring and sane.
Should my authority or credibility seem lacking, for the strength of these frightening points, how about the words of the man who helped to design the petrodollar in the first place - Economist (and former balance of trade whiz-kid) Michael Hudson! (Talking to Glenn Deisen, who is a hero, for gathering so many smart and insightful voices we badly need to hear)
You know the universe gets a kick out of what you do, when it keeps bringing you perfect backup for your trickiest points, just exactly when you need it.
Some may have found my bold assertion in this piece, that in the very worst case – Israel getting desperate (as they are) and using not just one, but almost certainly many nuclear weapons, Iran will still win, a bit far fetched, but that's because we are used to thinking about nukes on a magical level.
Here’s someone who is the furthest possible distance from that vagueness – Prof Thedore Postal, who happens also to be Jewish (but considers himself a non-hyphenated American) and is one of the foremost experts on nuclear weapons use and delivery systems, with a direct (and absolutely terrifying) warning that such an escalation means not victory, but definite suicide.
Absolulely painful to go into so much detail – but we’re all due a cautionary shot of that exact pain from time to time, until we get smart enough to get rid of nuclear weapons altogether.
In case you thought I was exaggerating the extent to which the US is abandoning bases around the region, here's Simplicius covering that story exactly.
